Community LIFE Agents (CLAs) serve as foot soldiers in our incentive-based farmer support service that enables a private business orientation to be applied to the provision of extension services hitherto provided by Government at the ratio of 1 extension worker to 10,000 farmers.
As part of its Youth Agripreneurship Development Programme (YADP), CBI Innovations Limited held a training program for Supervisors as part of a train-the-trainer exercise. The objective was to ensure that the Supervisors understands the CBiIL business network, maize farming techniques and support coordination to be provided to CLAs and by extension to farmers for proper adoption and compliance to good agronomy practices.
The Training took place on 25th May, 2021 by 10:00AM at Fab Hotel GRA, Zaria. These Supervisors, supported by experienced agronomists will manage 25 CLAs each that are engaged to provide the hands-on support to a network of 5,000 young farmers aged between 18 – 35 years. These farmers are being supported to cultivate 5,000ha of land with maize.
The project is in partnership with Nestle Nigeria PLC where they have agreed to offtake the produce provided it is produced to meet their quality as well as their interest to motivate youth to venture into agribusiness and job creation along the value chain with Alliance for Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) focusing amongst others increased adoption of improved agricultural practices and productivity.
